Out There

In a sport long dominated by men, Juliana Forte, 20, surfs with undeniable style, passion, and heart. She is a rare young talent, and an inspiration to the female surfers of the Outer Banks. As Leo Ravina, her shaper, puts it… "A lot of people do stuff that's in style, but not a lot of people do stuff with style." However, Juliana's love for surfing was never about fame or sponsorship, it was always about the pure joy of being in the water.

Through the community she inspires, a story unfolds about a unique bond between the surfer, the shaper and the sea. This film analyzes the undercurrents of hobby, art, and identity; all while emphasising one simple truth, “if it's not fun, you're doing it wrong”.

Surfing is really special because ultimately there are no boundaries and rules. It's really you, the wave and the dance you want to create.
